Brian Heffernan

Professional Experience

Brian retired as a Commander from the Cleveland Division of Police after a 30 year career. As the Commander of the Bureau of Integrity Control, Brian was responsible for overseeing inspections, Internal Affairs, and the implementation of and compliance with settlement agreements negotiated with the federal Department of Justice. Brian also served as a Captain assigned as the Commanding Officer of the Narcotics and Gang Units, the Officer-in-Charge of a District Vice and Detective Bureau, and a Patrol Supervisor.

Education and Training

Brian earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Syracuse University. He is also a graduate of Ohio’s Police Executive Leadership Conference and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy.

Awards and Accomplishments

Brian is a prior recipient of the Cleveland Division of Police’s Police Officer of the Year Award.  In 2014, Brian received the prestigious FBI Director’s Annual Award for Excellence.
