Professional Experience
Anthony is an experienced firefighter, paramedic, and police officer. Anthony has over 30 years of service with the Chicago Fire Department, working his way through the ranks from a Firefighter/Paramedic to the rank of Battalion Chief. During his tenure, Anthony has worked on busy fire companies as both a firefighter and officer on Chicago’s southside, and currently supervises the work of all companies within his assigned battalion. He also served as a rescue diver on the Air/Sea Rescue Team.
Anthony has also worked as a police officer for 31 years in two suburbs of Chicago. He has worked at the ranks of patrol officer, detective, patrol and detective sergeant, and lieutenant. As a detective, Anthony investigated property crimes, violent crimes, sex crimes, special victims, child/elder exploitation crimes, and white collar crimes. Once promoted to Sergeant, Anthony supervised the Investigations Division. He was also assigned to the South Cook County Illinois Major Crimes/Homicide Taskforce. As a police lieutenant, Anthony was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the entire department to include personnel, patrol, investigations, dispatch, fleet management, and purchasing.
Anthony is a state-certified Fire Instructor, Safety Officer, and instructor for Active Shooter/Patrol Tactics. He is also a certified instructor in Trauma Combat Casualty Care (as taught by the US Special Forces Medics), ALICE (school shooting training), and Krav-Maga for Police (Israeli self-defense system). He has taught courses in High-Rise Fire Safety and the combined Chicago Fire Department/Chicago Police Department Active Shooter Incident Response and Rescue curriculum.
Education and Training
Anthony earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Law Enforcement from South Suburban Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science Management from Southern Illinois University.
Anthony has obtained technician-level certification in high-angle rescue, trench rescue, confined space rescue, and hazardous materials. He has completed numerous national and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Fires Service specialty courses including Radiological Emergencies, Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings, and Incident Response to Chemical/Biological/Nerve Agents.
